Candidate Cities?
[edit]Are there any candidate cities for the 2023 Youth Olympics? This page seems out of date and the host city is supposed to be selected next month. --WRCosA (talk) 19:54, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- Host city is unlikely to be appointed next month. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 22:04, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- Kind of looks that way........ --WRCosA (talk) 02:19, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
Poznan for 2023?
[edit]Poznan, Poland bid for the last three Summer Youth Olympics, but failed to become a candidate for the first one, was a candidate for the second, then withdrew its bid and failed to become a candidate for the last one, so is Poznan considering a bid for these games?Johnny Brockman (talk) 02:23, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
- Nothing has been confirmed about the 2023 Summer Youth Olympics. The IOC is not scheduled to elect a host city at next week's IOC session as there appear to be no bidders. There was not even a bidding procedure launched if I recall. Honestly, I have no idea what the IOC will do with the YOG. I wouldn't be shocked if they scrapped it all together. --WRCosA (talk) 13:19, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
- Can confirm that 2023 YOG not on the agenda at this weeks IOC Session. The IOC however has added an IOC session prior to the 2018 YOG in Buenos Aires. Perhaps the host of the 2023 YOG might be selected next year, but nothing seems set in stone yet. --WRCosA (talk) 18:43, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
Back to 2022
[edit]After talking about 2023, this event now seems to be back to 2022, as confirmed by Thomas Bach's news conference today in Korea. At present the best reference I can find is from the IOC media official Twitter account (with a video of the relevant part of Bach's speech), but I assume that other reports will be available in due course, including after the IOC Session in a few days' time when the recommendation to prioritise an African venue will be presented. Assuming that it doesn't change yet again, the article will need to go back to 2022, which will need an admin to do, and changes will also be needed to the corresponding categories and various templates. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:21, 4 February 2018 (UTC)
- The IOC EB's proposal is now reported at https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1061036/ioc-to-target-african-country-to-host-summer-youth-olympic-games. Hopefully more will be available after the matter is discussed at the IOC Session. --David Biddulph (talk) 06:24, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

- An editor made a cut and paste move of content from here to 2026 Summer Youth Olympics, thus losing the history & attribution for the content. He also made a global edit of all occurrences of "2022" to "2026", thus breaking a number of the references, & meaning that others don't say what the changes article say they do. Similar problems occur on a number of articles which the same editor has changed in similar ways. Sorting out the history will need admin involvement. --David Biddulph (talk) 01:00, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
